Began in January 1999, the Armed Forces Vacation Club, or AFVC, is an off-season program that offers affordable condominium vacations to armed forces personnel at over 3,500 resorts around the world. They also offer vacation condos and vacation homes. These can be reserved by the week or weekend, sometimes longer on availability. This club, not run by any area of the US government, is a great low budget option for all those who are eligible.

How it Works

Any person is eligible to participate in the Armed Forces Vacation Club if they are 21 years old or older, have been a member of the US Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Navy, Marine Corps, USPHS, or NOAA, active Reserves, National Guard, or Auxilliarist, or have been married to a person who has been a member, or a child of 21 years old or older of an active or retired person in the Armed Forces, with a current DD Form 1173. A person serving overseas with the American Red Cross, working on a military installation as a contractor, or someone serving with the foreign exchange service or DoD are also eligible.

No potential member is required to sign membership applications, pay fees or dues, or go to any type of presentation. The way to join is easy. You simply call the Armed Forces Vacation Club or visit the website, pick out the place you would like to reserve, pay, and you are issued an account number. Browsing is strongly encouraged before a person decides upon joining the Armed Forces Vacation Club.

The website has a search engine to find a location you like quickly. It is best to reserve your location fourteen days ahead of the time you would like to visit.

What You Get

You can use the Armed Forces Vacation Club for reservations as many times as you would like. The general rate for rentals is $329 per week no matter the size, number of people staying, location, or time. This fee only covers the stay and not meals, travel, deposits, or telephone fees. The fee only covers the location itself.

The club also offers special deals through other affiliated companies such as rental car companies and emergency roadside assistance companies.
